Travel: Want To Plan Your First Creative/Shoot Trip? Visit Malta On A Budget (Less Than £150/N76K – All Inclusive)

Visit Malta On A Budget

So, I planned and ticked off my first travel destination of 2018 a few days ago. If you follow me on social media, you already know I had a lovely 4 days stay in the beautiful city of Sliema, Malta.

I am not the one to always volunteer to plan a trip but as my trip buddy @beautyandbrushes was very busy with work, I didn’t have any other choice than to take charge. Looking back at it now, I would say I did great and I learnt so much. Enough of the talking, I am sure you guys are here to get the full details about this trip. Well, let’s get straight into it:

Photo credit: Me (IG: @itsmaryamsalam) – Ryanair

The holiday package was booked on icelolly.com for a total of £146 (3nights/4days: Return flight + Hotel*** Bed+Breakfast + Return Airport>Hotel transfer + Hotel charge).  Yes, you read right, all that for less than £150 per person(~ N75,600 for my Nigerian readers).

This is my second time booking a trip with icelolly.com and so far, I haven’t had any issue with them or unpleasant surprise at my destination. The booking process is easy and straightforward since everything is handled by one agent.

Step by step booking process:

  • Visit www.icelolly.com (Unfortunately, their service is only available from the UK)
  • Enter your desired destination (Country) and date
  • You will then get options for different packages with different agents
  • Read through patiently and check reviews of hotels
  • If satisfied with the offer you see then call up the agent number to book (You need everyone travelling passport number, date of birth and full name)

Few things to take note:

  • Their prices are stated *From X amount – Take note the price you see might change when you call
  • Call different agents (2 to 3) to see price difference
  • You might want to check out other proposed dates for cheaper fee
  • Make sure you ask if there is an additional charge to pay when you arrive at your destination (Some countries charge airport tax etc…)
  • Based on experience, I would advise you book atleast Bed and Breakfast (It will save you lots of money)
  • Advisable to book your airport to hotel transfer while booking (It is cheaper)
  • Sort out any visa before booking – If you have European passport, make sure you don’t need a visa + confirm your passport is still valid (Don’t know what’s up with BREXIT new rules, confirm)
  • Advisable to confirm if the hotel has WIFI – As a blogger, you don’t want to be struggling with internet
  • Follow the airline rules correctly: Luggage allowed, check-in online, print boarding pass in advance etc…
  • Lastly, remember to ask for the agent booking your trip name and direct number.
  • *Ryanair is a low-cost airline, so they don’t serve any meal or drink on the plane (4H to Malta)

Others:

Apart from that, Malta was relatively cheap for meal. I would say budget between £20 – £50 per day for lunch and dinner + snacking. Also, before travelling, research on the activities available in the city and make sure to pack appropriately for the weather. So, that’s how to visit Malta on a budget if you are a student like me. I hope I mentioned everything needed to book a safe and affordable trip to your desired destination this year. If you have any question related directly to Malta, please comment down below. I will make sure to reply ASAP.

Where would you like to visit this year? [No 1 destination on your travel list]

      Hello,

Icelolly is only available from the UK unfortunately. If you are booking from Nigeria, I think you have to book with another airline and hotel seperately.

This was quite helpful, but I’ve got issues with icelolly since they don’t apply to Nigerians.
