5 THINGS THAT HAVE BECOME IMPORTANT TO ME, LATELY [Mental Health,..]
Hi guys, how are you all doing?
It’s been a few weeks since I got back to blogging and with the end of 2018 approaching I have been doing mini-reviews of my journey so far, my year and most especially how I spend my time. This year, I experienced lots of challenges regarding studies, mental health and my capacity to achieve things.
“Hello, my name is Maryam Salam. I am a fashion and lifestyle blogger on here. The name “The Blogger Point” comes with the idea to have a platform/point where I can share my opinion, story, experience and most especially build a platform where I can inspire other bloggers with everything that has helped/still helping me through my blogging journey. From this, I started a community of bloggers called “The Blogger Point Community” on Instagram where I aim to use to empower blogger to stay motivated, commited and passionate about their art. On this blog you will be seeing three major types of posts: Fashion [Sharing my love for modest fashion], Lifestyle [Sharing my opinions about topics that interest me] & Blogging Tips”.
Regardless of all these challenges, I have learned and discovered the hidden strengths in me. I fell, I was broken like never before but I am still here standing. It has taught me to prioritise things in my life and the people surrounding me because they surely have an impact on who I am becoming.
Mental health: Your mental health is the strongest weapon in your life and this is why everything and everyone that attacks you target your mental health. People who don’t like you or appreciate you won’t attack you physically but rather say things that will get to you mentally. This is why you need to prioritise how you feel and what type of content you are consuming. Especially with the pressure of social media, it is very important to filter what appears on your timeline. If you have to, unfollow or block people, not because you hate them but because they aren’t impacting you positively. Take a break from social media, read a book, travel to another city, state or country.
Personal relationship: Walking away from relationships such as friendship or romantic relationship can be difficult but at some point, you just have to be very truthful with yourself and do the right thing for you. Also, I know it is very common for us to discuss walking away from a relationship but rarely talk about walking back into some. As human, we make mistakes and sometimes ego pushes us to walk away from great people we might end up regretting all our life. If you really care about someone/a friend, walk back to them and make things right. Ego has broken more relationships than an actual problem. I recently amended a relationship with someone from five years ago and I can’t even tell you how much relief and happiness I feel knowing I eventually made things right. Time will make you realise other ways to do things and sometimes, it isn’t always others fault. Drop your ego and pride, then make things right. Send that apology message to that friend that once used to be your best friend, make things right because you genuinely care, you don’t want to wait until it is too late.
Personal Growth/Development: One big thing I started this year is setting a monthly budget called: Personal development for myself. I like to learn and learning new things place me in a great mental state. This budget goes towards buying a book, paying for an online course I want or webinar. Find something that makes you feel fulfilled and gradually invest in it. It might be something as taking a walk every morning. Just do it.
My blogging purpose: Recently, I was talking to someone about how much pressure there is in the blogging world today. The new updates with Instagram this year came with a lot of pressure for content creators, in general, to focus more on the things that used to be just “numbers” with less impact on content creation itself. Many bloggers are now more focused on numbers than ever, in fact, regardless of how much some people can love your content, like your pictures every day and comment, they will still refuse to click on the follow button simply because they think that is too much of a favour. at the end of the day, it’s their decision and that fine. And, can I mention how desperate this has made some content creators be? There are more sponsored post than ever, more bloggers complaining about money and even going ahead to pay people to constantly repost or retweet them. I understand that sounds like normal marketing but it is becoming a bit “too much” in my opinion. I won’t sit here and knock off anyone’s hustle to be popular or become an ‘Influencer’ but personally, this has made me really take time out to go back to my main purpose of starting a blog in the first place and why truly still want blogging to be alive. Being motivated by money is nothing negative, in fact, it is great for ‘business’ if you see your blog as a side business. But, some of us treat our blog professionally. However, have the primary aim to simply impact without the aim of becoming a millionaire from it. I have become very conscious of ensuring I stay focus on my purpose as a blogger.
My Time: I have always been that “Ever time is good for me time” kinda person but lately, I have been very conscious of spending my time productively and living in the present. If you know me personally, you will know I spend so much time, in fact too much time thinking about my future. Yes, it is worth thinking about and planning but please do not overdo it like me. Live now, enjoy the time now and appreciate the present. Waking up every day is a blessing you don’t want to waste of thinking about the future as if you are guaranteed that. Ensure you are living your best life now [Not in the concept of just partying].
Tell me, what are the things you’ve prioritised lately in your life?
