After buying your domain and hosting, you can either build your blog from the scratch if you are familiar with web designing or use a CMS . Content management systems are meant to make blog setup easy for dummies. On this post, I will be sharing with you the top 5 content management platforms for bloggers. I will also share feature what makes them worthy to be on the list of the top 5 content management platforms for bloggers in the new year.
1. WordPress
WordPress is the world’s number one content management system. WordPress possesses several features that make it one of the top 5 content management platforms for bloggers. They give you total control of your blog, you can add an online store or forums. WordPress is search engine friendly. one of their best features is their endless customization. WordPress provides over 45,00 plugins and themes. WordPress also comes with a drag and drop function which makes customization easier. It is very flexible and you can easily design the site of your dreams without spending a dime. However, WordPress lets you handle your security and backup( Not to worry, our post next week would be on this).
2. Blogger
Acquired by Google in 2003, blogger is one of the top 5 content management platforms for bloggers. Blogger offers simple blog customization. It comes with free templates but limited in numbers. When it comes to lots of customization option, blogger does a terrible job at this. On the other handle, they offer top-notch security.
3. Wix
Wix is a popular option for those who want easy customization. Wix lets you build your blog from the scratch using their drag and drop function. Wix offers free plans but to get access to more customization options, you must subscribe to their premium service.

The aforementioned are our top 5 content management platforms for bloggers but our most recommended is WordPress which is what we use. WordPress avails you so much more opportunities than the rest. They are almost perfect but their failure in ensuring back up and security robs them of perfection. However, I would tackle these issues in my next post.
